Civil Safety Training & Rescue achieves CITB Approved Training Organisation status

April 30, 2021

Civil Safety Training & Rescue is proud to be a CITB Approved Training Organisation (ATO). This means we have successfully completed CITB’s approval process and are an organisation which provides training courses and qualifications to a defined and industry agreed training standard.

This also means that levy-registered employers can claim grants on our following training courses:

  • City & Guilds 6150-01 Working in Low Risk Confined Spaces
  • City & Guilds 6150-02 Working in Medium Risk Confined Spaces (Top Man) (Entrant)
  • City & Guilds 6150-03 Working in High Risk Confined Spaces

All of these are CITB Tier 1 short duration courses and qualify for a £30 grant payment. As part of CITB’s automated grant payments system, we make it easier for employers to book courses for their workers and be reimbursed for it.

What is a CITB Approved Training Organisation (ATO)?

A CITB Approved Training Organisation (ATO) is an organisation which provides construction training courses and qualifications to a defined and industry agreed training standard.

As an ATO, Civil Safety Training & Rescue:

  • is recognised by CITB and the construction industry for delivering good quality training that meets industry approved standards
  • is featured in the Construction Training Directory
  • can serve employers and workers who are looking for CITB grant-funded training courses
  • is part of CITB’s automated grant payments system, making it easier for employers to book courses with us for their workers and be reimbursed for it

Why should you book your training with a CITB Approved Training Organisation?

Some training courses are available for a grant from CITB. If you’re an employer in the construction industry you can claim grants when your employees attend these courses. To be able to do this, your organisation must be registered with CITB and you need to book your training with an ATO.

As an Approved Training Organisation, we are required to upload delegate achievements to the Construction Training Register within 10 days of successful completion of an eligible training course. This triggers automated grant payments to employers and also enables them to check the skills and competencies of their workforce and new recruits, helping to confirm that they have the right skills for work. Workers and learners themselves are also able to check and prove the details of their completed construction training courses and qualifications.

What is the CITB Grants Scheme?

The CITB Grants Scheme provides grants for employers in the construction industry who provide day to day training for their workforce. The scheme helps to maintain standards on construction sites and to ensure the right skills are available for the industry to grow.

All eligible employers who are registered with CITB and are up to date with their Levy Returns can apply for grant, including small employers who are not required to pay the levy.

What is the Construction Training Register (CTR)?

The Construction Training Register is an online database of construction workers that employers can access to check their achievements. This is where we, as the training provider, upload achievements following course completion. This means you can see the training that your employees (or potential employees) have completed.
