May 30, 2025
In this latest interview we get to know James Blackhurst from the Civil Safety rescue team…
Name
James Blackhurst
Job Title
Rescue Team Supervisor
How long have you worked at Civil Safety?
Almost 5 years.
Where did you work previously?
Before joining Civil Safety I worked in the automotive trade.
How did you get started in this industry?
I was introduced by a good friend of mine.
Describe your day to day role
It’s hard to say as the job is so varied. But generally I get up early and drive all around the country to provide confined space rescue teams to whoever needs us, wherever they are.
What is the most interesting part of your job?
Getting to meet different people all the time and not many days are the same.
What do you find most challenging about your job?
Probably the uncertainty of where I will be! We are very reactive to our clients’ needs so my day to day can change at the drop of a hat!
If you could swap jobs with someone else at Civil Safety for a day, who would it be and why?
Probably one of the service team so I could do some hands on stuff.
What’s the most useful piece of advice you have been given in your career?
Don’t burn your bridges.
What do you like doing in your spare time?
Family time, eating out, spending time with friends, you know, the usual stuff.
Any interesting/little known facts about you?
Not really, I’m pretty much an open book, if there was anything to know it would already be out there!
